University of Patras

The University of Patras has first of all significant expertise relevant to Industrial Control, given that it has been till 2004 the only University with a sector focused on "Systems and Automatic Control". The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Patras will actively participate in the RIP through its staff in the following Laboratories: a) Systems and Measurements, b) Automation and Robotics, c) Applied Electronics, d) Electromagnetics. Effort will be placed in the framework of the platform to include several other laboratories stemming from different departments.

The aforementioned laboratories and their staff have expertise in: 1) Distributed Real time systems for industrial (PROFIBUS, FIP, FF, SP50, BITBUS) and building (EHSA, EIBA, LON) networks, based on emerging state-of-the-art technologies, 2) Network Management, Configuration Software and Protocol Software, 3) Software developemnt for Internetworking, Integration, Interoperability and QoS Provision, 4) Advanced micro-controllers for industrial control, 5) Advanced wireless control systems for distributed systems, supporting real time services, 6) Real time industrial systems (PLCs), 7) Supervisory control systems (SCADA), and 8) Robot Control systems.
