Industrial Systems Institute (I.S.I.),

The Industrial Systems Institute (I.S.I.), a research institute which is part of the Integrated Research for the Information Society (I.R.I.S.) research centre, functions under the supervision of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development, and has been created in order to promote research in the areas of industrial systems and applications. I.S.I. is active in the following research areas:

  • Information and Communication Systems for the Industry
  • Enterprise Integration
  • Advanced Production Systems
  • Modeling and Automation
  • Electronic Systems
  • Embedded Systems
  • Special applications leading to Sustainable Development
ISI is a very important institution in the RWG having know-how and expertise in the technological areas of the proposed platform, expertise that is documented through its participation in an important number of national and European projects with important research results and products / services and research publications / announcement in international journals / conferences. ISI has already created significant collaboration with the University of Patras since over fifteen University professors are in cooperation with the Institute in relevant research directions.

Further to the above projects ISI has a number of direct contracts with the Greek industry related the areas of the pole.

It is worth mentioning that ISI has succeeded to develop significant Regional collaborations, that are regarded as essential for the success of the proposed platform, such as the collaboration with the Business Innovation Centre (BIC) of Western Greece and the Chambers that it represents, the collaboration with the Centre of Entrepreneurial and Technological Development (KETA) of Western Greece, which ISI is a founding member, and finally the Ministry of Development funded Quality Award project.

The aforementioned activities indicate ISI role as an important research institution in the Region in the areas of the platform axes, having the capability to create wide collaborations of other relevant academic / research institutions as well as the entrepreneurial world that is the end user of the platform activities.
